Manufactured from 1983 to 1997. The factory letter states that this pistol was a "deactivated" sample/display pistol kept by the Colt factory and "later subject to excessive oxidation" testing. Features fixed front and rear sights, firing pin safety, arched mainspring housing and checkered walnut grips with nickel plated Rampant Colt medallion inlays on both sides. The right side of the slide is marked, "GOVERNMENT MODEL", with the one line address and serial number stamped below on the frame, and the left side of slide is marked, "COLT MK IV/-SERIES 80-" with the image of the rampant colt. Complete with factory letter and Colt wood grain box hand numbered to the gun and noting its "DEACTIVATED" status.

Fine as deactivated by the Factory. There is heavy overall oxidation on the finish, as noted in the factory letter from being subjected to "excessive oxidation". The grips are in excellent condition, with the box being very good with typical minor edge wear. An interesting example, with great provenance for the collector, of the rigorous and continuous testing and refinement Colt puts into their firearms. Magazine absent.
