Manufactured from 1970 to 1983. The accompanying factory letter states that this gun "was a sample and display pistol kept by the Colt factory". Features fixed sights with a serrated trigger, slide, and lanyard-style circular hammer, serrated back strap grip extension, grip and thumb safety, and checkered walnut grips with nickel plated Rampant Colt medallion inlays on each side. The left side of the slide is marked, "COMBAT/COMMANDER" next to "COLT" and "AUTOMATIC/CALIBER .45" followed by the Rampant Colt in front of the slide serrations. The right side of the slide is marked, "COLT'S COMBAT COMMANDER" with the Colt standard one-line address and serial number stamped below on the frame. Complete with factory letter noting the pistol's provenance.

Excellent, 99% original finish. There are a few minor scratches/scuffs to the finish on the left hand side of the slide and frame and one very minor nick in the metal on the left side trigger guard. The grips are in excellent condition, with left grip exhibiting a few minor dents/bruising to the checkering on the upper half of the grip. The right grip is unmarked and in excellent/near new condition. An excellent conditioned pistol with great provenance for the collector.
