Confirmed by the included Colt factory letter this revolver was kept by the Colt factory as a display piece and sample of the Bozeman Trail special edition revolver. The letter also confirms the caliber, non-fluted cylinder, barrel length, black checkered Rampant Colt/American eagle motif composition stocks, blue and casehardened finishes, and the gold etched Bozeman Trial motifs with the inscription "154 of 200" on the right side of the frame. Complete with Colt "wood grain" box numbered to gun and marked "Archive". Accompanied by shipping document indicating "Placed into Archives 7/5/84."

Excellent 99% with some scattered oxidation visible on left side of frame. Box is fair with tape repairs.
