The included Colt factory letter identifies this revolver by its serial number as an experimental prototype revolver kept by the Colt factory. The letter also confirms the caliber, 4" heavyweight barrel, finish, target wide spur hammer, floating firing pin, service sights and round butt with the type of stocks not listed. The left side of the barrel is marked "COLT .357/.357 MAGNUM CTG." and the right side is marked with the one line Hartford address. The side plate is marked with the Rampant Colt. Grooved trigger, and the grips are absent.

Very fine, incomplete. The revolver retains 95% plus original blue finish with some thinning to a gray (mostly on the grip straps) along with some minor handling marks, some minor muzzle wear, and a noticeable cylinder drag line.
