Manufactured in 1882 as a third model with integral dust cover rail and dust cover with serrated edges. The accompanying factory letter lists this rifle with a round barrel and plain trigger when received in the warehouse on August 21, 1882 and shipped on August 24. Dovetail blade front sight and folding ladder rear sight on a barrel marked with the two-line address/patent dates marking. A non-factory "45 75" marking is stamped on the cartridge elevator. "MODEL 1876" is marked on the upper tang, and the serial number is marked on the lower tang. The trapdoor buttplate (cleaning rod not included) is fitted to a nicely figured straight grip stock.

Very fine, retaining 50% plus original blue finish with thinning to brown on the balance. There is evidence of some cold blue touch up on the center of the barrel and magazine tube. 40% original nitre blue remains on the loading gate. 40% original case colors remain on the hammer and lever. The revarnished wood is fine with a faint punch dot marked "W" on the wrist (left side) and minor dings and scratches. Mechanically excellent. Overall a clean example of a Model 1876 rifle.
