The accompanying factory letter lists this rifle with a 22 inch octagon barrel in .45-90 caliber, plain trigger, checkered pistol grip stock and Lyman front sight when received in the warehouse on February 9, 1894 and shipped the next day. The rifle is equipped with a dovetail Lyman beaded blade front sight, elevation adjustable rear sight and folding tang peep sight. The barrel is stamped with the two-line address on the top flat ahead of the rear sight and "45-90 WCF" on the upper left flat at the breech. The lower tang has the two-line patent dates marking and the serial number. Highly figured and checkered walnut pistol grip stock with ebony insert in the grip area and solid crescent buttplate. The left side of the lower tang is marked "276 XX." The assembly number is repeated on the stock inlet, and assembly number "284" is on the buttplate.

Fine. The barrel and magazine tube retain 80% original blue finish with a patch of light pitting visible on right forward magazine tube with some cold blue touch up. 97% original blue finish remains on the bolt. 60% original blue remains on the loading gate. The remaining metal surfaces retain 30% mostly silvered out original case colors. The wood is also fine with a chip and hairline crack at the upper tang, minor dings and scratches, most of the original finish remaining and crisp checkering overall. Mechanically excellent.
