The accompanying 1986 dated letter from Winchester authority and collector Vern Vossler explains the factory record for this rifle was obtained from the Winchester Historical Museum via a telephone call and factory record lists this rifle with a 30 inch no. 4 barrel in .32-40 caliber, Schuetzen buttplate and set trigger when received in the warehouse on March 21, 1903, and shipped on March 24. The no. 4 barrel features a globe front sight with spirit level, filler block in the rear sight dovetail, and non-factory scope taps on top flat of barrel which are fitted with filler screws. The action has double set triggers, a folding tang sight is mounted on the upper tang, and the straight grip stock has a nickel plated brass Schuetzen buttplate. Includes a desirable palm rest.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, retaining 80% original blue finish thinning to brown. 95% plus original nickel plating remains on the buttplate. The wood is fine with a hairline stress crack near the palm rest and some minor dings and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
