Description:

Manufactured in 1851 fairly early in the Third Model range (4200-85000) with the distinctive small round trigger guard that identifies this variation. The barrel has a brass cone front sight and "-ADDRESS SAML COLT NEW-YORK CITY-" on top. The cylinder scene is the standard Naval Battle of Campeche scene. The frame has the small "COLTS/PATENT" marking found on early '51 Navies. The wedge is a replacement, but matching serial numbers are on the loading lever, barrel, arbor pin, cylinder, trigger guard, backs trap, and grip (properly hand-written in dark ink in the rear mortise).

Rating Definition:

Fine with most of the darkened original silver plating remaining, 25% original blue remaining on the barrel and mottled gray and brown on the balance, mostly silver-gray patina on the cylinder, mottled gray and brown patina on the frame, subtle case colors blended with patina on the hammer and loading lever, some minor oxidation, and general minor marks and scratches. All of the cylinder safety pins remain, and the revolver shows little signs of use. It appears to have primarily only aged. The grip is very good and has strong glossy finish, minor dings and scrapes, and light edge wear. Mechanically excellent.
