Description:

The Model 1849 Pocket was the most popular of all Colt's percussion revolvers and was even more widely used than the famous Single Action Army in the 19th century. This high condition example was manufactured in 1865 and features a brass cone front sight, the one-line New York barrel address, standard stagecoach scene on the cylinder, "COLTS/PATENT" on the left side of the frame, "31 CAL" on the left side of the trigger guard, varnished grip, and all matching serial numbers (the grip number is faint butt appears to match). The case also holds a key, bullet mold, cap tin, powder flask, and L-shaped combination tool.

Rating Definition:

Very fine overall with 80% original blue on the barrel, thin original blue on the cylinder which has some light pitting by the nipples, 70% plus original case colors, 20% original silver plating concentrated in the protected areas, aged patinas on the silver and brass, and mostly minor wear throughout. The excellent grip retains bright original varnish and has mild wear concentrated at the lower edges. Mechanically excellent. The case and accessories are very good with moderate storage wear including a crack in the case lid. This is a very attractive example of one of the most important Colt revolvers.
