Manufactured c. 1865-1888 and often referred to as the "Saw Handle Deringer". This pair of vest pocket pistols exhibit matching, beautifully executed acanthus scroll acid etched engraving on the frames and barrels. It is evident that these two have been a pair for quite some time as the barrels (numbered "634" and "664" like the pistols) have been switched to their counterpart pistol at some point along their journey. The grips show matching acanthus leaf and border carving. The pair otherwise show standard markings and features. Includes a mahogany presentation case with blank initial plaque on the lid that holds both pistols.

Fine, retains 90% plus period replated silver finish and strong traces of nitre blue on the breech block with the balance an attractive dark grey antique silver patina, mainly in the low areas of the engraving. The grips are also fine with some light handling marks and some hairline age crack. Mechanically excellent.
