Description:

William Billinghurst of Rochester, New York, is best remembered for manufacturing revolving rifles based on the Miller patent in both pill lock and percussion but also manufactured a variety of other high quality arms in the mid-19th century. This combination gun has an upper .36 caliber rifled barrel with a thin blade front sight, fixed notch rear sight and "W. BILLINGHURST ROCHESTER. N.Y." marking and a 12 gauge smoothbore lower barrel. The upper barrel is fired by a traditional back action lock, and the lower barrel is fired using an underhammer mechanism. Both use the same trigger. The lock and furniture have fine engraving. The upper tang also has a tap for mounting a peep sight. The stock has a checkered semi-pistol grip. One ramrod is included.

Rating Definition:

Very good with mostly gray and brown patina, some light oxidation, and general mild wear. The rifle barrel is obstructed a few inches ahead of the breech. The stock is fine with much of the original varnish, and has mild wear in the distinct checkering and general scrapes and dings. Mechanically fine.
