Only approximately 5,400 Registered Magnums were manufactured between 1935 and 1939, and all are virtually custom made revolvers that remain "state of the art" in handgun manufacturing today. This Registered Magnum, number 1488, has a King red post front sight on a King ramp reflector base, an adjustable square notch rear sight, standard S&W marking with "REG. 1488" marked on the inside of the frame, and matching serial numbers on the butt, right grip panel, cylinder and ejector shroud. The original Registration Certificate (showing some paper loss at the top) confirms the registered number, 4 inch barrel, and sights. The handgun was registered by I.F. Shaw of Sanford, Texas. Short barrel lengths such as 4 inches were popular with law enforcement.

Excellent, retaining 99% plus original blue and casehardened finishes with slight edge wear and a cylinder drag line. The grips are also excellent with minimal handling marks and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
