This is a excellent example of a late/post WWII M1 Garand originally manufactured circa June 1945 that was refurbished and upgraded/converted to an M1D Sniper rifle by Toole Army Depot in 1969 for Vietnam. The rear of the receiver has the standard Springfield Armory markings over serial number "3853494", and the M1D barrel is correctly marked "SA 0731255 10-52". The right side of the receiver leg is correctly etched with "TE/4-69". The rifle has a mix of early and late WWII Springfield Armory marked parts, along with a wide base gas cylinder, four slot gas cylinder plug and a set of post-war sights. It has a walnut stock and handguard set with a boxed "SA" cartouche on the left rear side with a uncircled "P" proof in the grip area with a standard checkered steel buttplate. The rifle is complete with an original M84 sniper scope that is numbered on the shipping package. The nomenclature plate is marked "TELESCOPE/M84/SERIAL NO.27202" and it comes with its original GI mount. The scope has a sliding metal sunshield, a rubber eyepiece with the standard post and crosshair reticle. The rifle is complete with its original compliment of parts to include a copy of the original CMP shipping/release documents, a HART marked M2 flash hider, green web sling, canvas scope case, unmarked leather cheekpiece, cleaning rod/bore brush set etc., all contained in its original CMP shipping box,

Very fine as arsenal refurbished with 99% of its late gray parkerized finish overall showing no wear/use after having been rebuilt. The walnut stock and handguard set are all in very fine condition, also as having been arsenal refurbished, with a beautiful matching medium brown color overall with no handling marks and clear distinct cartouches and proofs. The M84 scope retains 99% of its original blued finish overall with crystal clear optics. An excellent all original GI refurbished M1D sniper rig.
