Manufactured in 1931, with a "*" star gauge stamp on the muzzle of the "SA/1-31" barrel, a hooded blade front sight, ladder rear sight (properly without top volley notch), and "H/2369" under the handguard. Standard markings are present on the receiver, with a "NS" marked bolt, which has a matching electro-penciled serial number on top. Smooth pistol grip stock with a block "P" on the underside of the wrist, "D.A.L." on the left, matching serial number on the underside just ahead of the rear sling swivel, and a sharply checkered steel buttplate. An engraved silver plate is inlaid into the right side of the stock, and marked "GILBERT P. SNELL/SPRINGFIELD, ILL". Details on Snell are few; a 1940 census lists a Gilbert P. Snell, born 1900, living in Springfield, though no information on any military or marksmanship activity is recorded.

Very fine, with 85% plus of the original parkerized finish, showing some mild spotting and wear overall. The stock is fine, with some mild dents and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
