Description:

This is representative of a very late WWII production M1 Carbine manufactured by the Underwood-Elliot-Fisher Corporation. This example has all the correct late production Underwood marked parts to include the A.I. Co. marked blued bolt, "O.U." marked operating slide, the three piece brazed trigger housing and the "U" marked internal parts with a smooth unmarked face magazine release and push button safety. It has the standard receiver heel markings of "UNDERWOOD" over serial number "6142818" with the front area of the barrel stamped: "UNDERWOOD/3-44/Ordnance Bomb/P" with a second pattern barrel band with no bayonet lug. The rear of the carbine is fitted with a two position, flip adjustable rear sight marked "S." on the left side. It has the correct, low wood, oval cut walnut stock and four rivet handguard. The stock is stamped with a circled "P" proof in the pistol grip area with a "P-U" stamped in the sling slot. The underside of the handguard is stamped with "M-U". Complete with a green GI canvas sling and one 15 round magazine and oiler.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as restored to World War II configuration with 95% plus of the refurbished parkerized finish overall on the metal surfaces with a hint of light finish loss on the right side, receiver rail only. The bolt has a faded blue finish showing light cycling wear overall and blue loss. The stock and handguard are both in near mint condition with clear sharp proofs with a nice matching medium brown color overall. An exceptionally nice, super high condition late Underwood M1 carbine.
