Description:

This is an example of a commercial production Model 1928 Thompson submachine gun as manufactured by the Auto-Ordnance Corporation of West Hurley, New York, circa late 1970s early 80s. This series of SMG can be easily identified by the letter "A" in the serial number suffix. They were new production weapons made with newly manufactured components, but still retained all the various earlier configuration parts such as the finned barrel, Thompson-Cutts style compensator, vertical fore grip, detachable buttstock, and Lyman style adjustable ladder rear sight. The left side of the receiver is marked "U.S. MODEL 1928/No.1351A" followed by "THOMPSON SUBMACHINE GUN/CALIBER .45M1". The right side is marked "AUTO-ORDNANCE CORPORATION/WEST HURLEY, NEW YORK, U.S.A." This desirable weapon has an all walnut stock, vertical fore grip and pistol grip and the all blued finish. This lot includes (1) "L" type Auto-Ordnance marked, 50 round drum magazine and the classic guitar sharped storage/carrying case.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 90% plus of the original blue finish overall with edge and high spot wear with the side and flats overall showing a nice higher polish blue type finish with more of a brush blued finish on the underside of the trigger housing and cutouts around the receiver. The wood components, buttstock, and pistol grips are all refinished with a nice high polished varnished type finish. The drum magazine has a slightly dulled/matte blue finish. The guitar case is in fine condition with the hinges and stitching on the outside all solid and the interior showing some deterioration of the foam. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.
