Description:

This is an absolutely excellent example of a post-WWII Beretta Model 38/49 submachine gun. These were a continuation and improvement of the original pre-WWII Beretta Model 38. Beretta manufactured several different version during WWII each having some slight mechanical improvement culminating in this last version. This model was also called the Model 4 and it was sold to several different countries in the middle East as well as in Europe. It was the standard Italian Army SMG after WWII. The top of the receiver is marked: "MOSCH AUTOM BERETTA MOD 4 -Cal-9/A07670". It was a blow back operated SMG with a slightly heavier barrel without the perforated barrel jacket with an integral muzzle break on the end. The primary difference is that this model incorporated a push-button/cross bolt safety in the middle of the stock. It used a steel tubular receiver with the magazine well/trigger housing welded on to the receiver, with a fixed front and rear sight. It has a machined bolt with a fixed firing pin. One unique aspect of this weapons is that it has a double trigger assembly; with the front trigger firing the weapon in a single shot mode with the rear trigger firing it in a fully automatic mode. It has a beech hardwood stock and an all blued metal finish. Magazine absent.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 99% of the original factory blued finish showing a hint of blue loss on the sides from cycling the action. The stock is also in excellent condition showing no handling marks.
