Description:

The overall length is 35 5/8 inches. The handle is silver and has a plate on one edge inscribed "H.L. Brush" in nice jeweler style script and an inset piece of quartz with veins of gold on top. Precisely who the specific H.L. Brush referenced by the inscription is not documented. There was an prominent farmer and "Nurseryman & Florist" in Ottawa, Illinois, by that name who served as secretary of a meeting of "Farmers, Manufacturers, Mechanics & wealth-producing classes in general" of LaSalle County in 1862.

Rating Definition:

Very good with aged patina and numerous dings and dents on the silver cap, minor wear on the quartz, absent tip, and light scratches and dings.
