Description:

Manufactured immediately prior to World War II, this is an extraordinary Walther PP pistol with scroll presentation factory style engraving and extraordinary relief carved grips. The engraving is a "Germanic" pattern, with additional punch-dot backed scrollwork, checkerboard and floral accents, dot and zig-zag borders and geometric patterns covering over 90% of the pistol exterior and preserving the original markings. Of particular note is a 1 1/4 inch long oval panel on the top left of the slide, which features very deeply sculpted, three dimensional floral designs. While not explicitly documented, Walthers with very similar engraving have been documented to high ranking members of the Nazi Party such as the Albert Speer PP seen on page 69 of Rankin's "Walther Volume II", and especially the "Gautag Weimar" pistol on page 71 of the same text. The frame is the proper later 9mm style, with the heel-mounted magazine catch and no provision for a button-style catch, with a matching numbered slide, 60 degree safety, lightly engraved trigger and a ring hammer. Sharp checkering has been executed on the hardwood grips, which is bordered on three sides with excellently sculpted oak leaf designs and adorned with a set of three contrasting accents at the bottom of each panel.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, with 90% plus of the original blue finish, showing some bright edge wear and mild handling marks. The grips are also excellent, with a few light dings. Mechanically excellent.
