Designed by Ferdinand Ritter Von Mannlicher of Austria, the Mannlicher Carbine is lightweight and compact, and uses a short recoil action with a concealed internal hammer, a reciprocating cocking lever that doubles as a hammer position indicator and a detachable double-stack magazine assembly. Blade front and 2-position flip rear sights, with an integral clip guide, straw finished small parts, and matching serial numbers on multiple parts including the magazine. The smooth forearm encloses nearly the entirety of the barrel, with a matching numbered cap/sight base at the front. The smooth pistol grip buttstock is stamped "AV" on the underside of the wrist, with an oval sling cut and a flat steel buttplate.

Very fine as professionally replated, with 95% plus of the blue, showing some light edge wear and a small amount of spotting and handling marks. The buttplate shows dents and covered pitting. A few hairline cracks are visible in the forearm and at the upper tang, along with a cut in the otherwise fine wood on the right side near the buttplate and scattered scuffing and dents. Mechanically excellent.
