Manufactured in 1954 in Belgium, this is a beautiful example of a Pre-Olympian F.N. Mauser Presentation Grade factory engraved bolt action rifle. At the time of manufacture these rifles were the finest made for "over the counter" sales and were made in limited quantities. All featured F.N. deluxe sculptured relief engraving which was a true work of art in the Renaissance manner, which cover the receiver ring and bridge, trigger guard and floor plate. This rifle has a blue barrel and grey remaining parts. The receiver features beautiful relief engraved floral vine and two mythological Griffins. The same relief engraving is on the trigger guard and hinged floor plate, both also featuring the Griffin. There is a 2 inch wedge of the same design on top of the breech end of the barrel. The barrel is fitted with a hooded ramped front sight and three leaf rear sight with two folding leaves and one fixed leaf and graduate from 100 to 300. The bolt assembly is bright, and the bolt release is niter blue. The high comb pistol grip stock features contrasting forend and grip caps, raised cheekpiece, New Jersey gun retailer marked Pachmayr vented recoil pad, broad floral scroll relief carved motif and a relief carved stag scene on the right side.

Very fine, retaining 99% plus of the respective professionally applied finishes, some thinned nitre blue on the trigger and minimal handling evidence. The 100 meter rear sight has been filed down. The replacement carved stock is very good with very scattered minor handing marks and crisp carving. Mechanically excellent.
