Offered here is one of the last New Model No. 3s manufactured. This awesome and rare revolver's desirability is first defined by the ultra fine Oscar Young factory floral scroll engraving on a punch dot background featured on the sides of the barrel, on the frame and on the cylinder flats. This gun's historic significance is compounded in that it is also fitted with its original detachable shoulder stock. Stock Model 3s are extremely rare, more so those in blue finish, even far more so when engraved and blued with less than 20 to 25 total produced across the entire Model 3 line including both the various American and Russian models in addition to the New Model No. 3 from 1870 to 1912. The serial number on the butt is correctly marked for a shoulder stocked factory variation. The revolver is fitted with a pinned blade front sight and an adjustable square notch sight. Matching serial numbers are found on the butt, right grip panel, cylinder, barrel latch and barrel. Fitted with diamond checkered walnut grips. The scarce factory detachable walnut shoulder stock has an attractive grain pattern, blued hardware and checkered S&W monogrammed hard rubber buttplate.

Excellent, retaining 98% plus original high polished blue finish showing mild loss at the muzzle edges and on the back strap, scattered handling marks and cylinder drag lines. The engraving is crisp. 97% original case colors remain on the hammer and trigger guard. The grips are also excellent with minimal handling marks and crisp checkering overall. Mechanically excellent. The stock is excellent with 97% original blue finish remaining and very scattered minor handling marks. This high condition Oscar Young factory engraved New Model No. 3 Target Revolver with stock is a must have for the serious S&W collector. Shoulder stocked S&W Model 3 revolvers are extremely scarce and desirable, especially those in blue finish as most produced were nickel plated. This example will be extremely hard to improve upon!
