Introduced in 1878. This choice collector grade S&W New Model No. 3 revolver has a rarely encountered caliber marked barrel and the 1 9/16 inch "long" cylinder. This caliber marking is on the left side of the barrel towards the breech and reads, "44 S&W CTG." The barrel rib has the late production one-line Springfield address, and the S&W logo is stamped on the right side of the frame. The revolver is fitted with two-piece pearl grips, which feature an attractive relief carved Mexican eagle on the right panel. Matching serial numbers are found on the butt, cylinder, barrel latch, and barrel.

Excellent, retaining 98% plus original nickel finish showing minimal handling marks. 97% plus original case colors remain. The grips are exceptionally fine with a blemish and couple hairline stress cracks on the left panel and fiery colors. The carving is crisp and of extremely high quality. Mechanically excellent.
