Description:

This is an excellent example of an extremely rare pistol manufactured in 1964 for the Gil Hebard Company. Gil Hebard was a well known pistol shooter in Illinois who successfully ran a firearms company that specialized in Colt and S&W pistols. The concept of the "Kit" gun was for Colt to be able to produce a Target Grade pistol with all the parts and components fully finished but unassembled and without sights, thus saving the costs of final assembly and test, which could be passed on through the actual cost of the pistol to the customer. Fewer than 400 total of the ".38 Special Kit" guns were produced. It shows the standard markings of the kit guns and is fitted with Bo-Mar sights. The included factory letter confirms the configuration as well as shipment on 5 August 1964. Includes three extra magazines.

Rating Definition:

Very fine overall, retains 98% Clark custom blue finish with some scattered light handling marks and some very light edge wear. The grips have only the slightest handling marks and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
