Sharps only manufactured 46 Model 1877 Long Range No. 1 rifles and 52 No. 2 rifles in January 1877 to March 1879. The curled grip is one of the key identifiers of the No. 1 variation. The rifle has a globe front sight with spirit level, "Old Reliable" and "SHARPS RIFLE CO. BRIDGEPORT, CONN." on top of the barrel, no rear sight dovetail, a 2 inch rib at the breech, long range Vernier peep sight, checkered forearm with contrasting nose cap, back action "shotgun" lock, checkered trigger, checkered pistol grip stock with horn inlay in the curled tip and checkered steel buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Fine overall as restored with 95% plus high quality finish, legible barrel markings, some blemishes visible under the finish, slight gaps between the stock and action and the lock and action, crisp checkering, and minor marks and scratches. Mechanically excellent. Overall, a very attractive representative of one of the scarcest of all Sharps rifle variations.
