The forearm has a casehardened tip and is marked with the matching serial number on the back. The action has the octagonal breech section and the two-line address and patent information on the tang. The buttstock and forearm have round flats at the junction with the action, and it is equipped with a lightly curved buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 80% original blue finish thinning to smooth brown along the barrel, 70% plus original case colors, 90% plus original niter blue on the hammer and breechblock, minor oxidation, and generally only mild age and storage related wear, including a few dings. The wood is also very fine and has smooth oiled finish, light dings and scrapes, and some small white marks at the butt. Mechanically excellent.
