Description:

Produced circa 1861-1865. Blade front and folding ladder rear sights, with the distinctive spring latch on the top flat, brass lifter inside the trigger guard, and the Massachusetts Arms and Poultney & Trimble markings on the left side of the frame above the saddle ring bar and Smiths patent underneath. Smooth stock, with a single barrel band, "JM" cartouches on the left side of the wrist, and a smooth metal buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, with 90% of the original blue finish, showing some light handling marks overall, spotting on the barrel and a brown and gray patina on the barrel band and wrist hardware. 50% of the original case colors remain on the receiver, strongest in the protected areas with a silver color forming overall. Stock and forearm are both very fine, with some pressure dents, strongest on the wrist, light scratches and minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
