The Peabody carbines and rifles were manufactured in 1866-1871. Many Peabody rifles and carbines were exported for foreign military use. It has a blade and bayonet stud front sight, notch and folding leaf rear sight, standard patent and manufacture markings, "WC" inspector cartouche, and British proofs.

Very fine, retains 80% plus original blue finish and 90% age darkened case colors with the balance a smooth grey-brown patina. The wood is also very fine with minor dings and scratches throughout, a hairline crack near the buttplate, and clear cartouche. Mechanically excellent.
