Description:

These Colt muskets were produced throughout the Civil War under contract with the Union and state governments. An estimated 100,000 muskets were manufactured by the end of the war. They have similarities with the British Enfield and the U.S. Springfield Model 1863 Type I. This 1864 dated example has the standard markings and features.

Rating Definition:

Very good plus with mottled gray and brown patina, minor pitting, and generally moderate wear. The stock is also very good and has numerous scattered dings and scratches, mild edge wear, dark finish, and some minor chips. The markings are distinct, and it is mechanically excellent.
