The Model 1861 was the main weapon of the Union Army during the Civil War. This standard example is dated "1862" on the lock and barrel, two faint cartouches on the stock, and a removable collection mark on the trigger guard. Includes a "U.S." marked socket bayonet.

Rating Definition:

Fine, showing mostly bright with some patches of a thin speckling of grey-brown patina. The lock plate is very fine overall and is in the original armory bright polish. The lightly sanded and reoiled otherwise fine wood has a few scattered minor handling marks, some scattered light chips on some edges, and two faint cartouches. Mechanically excellent. The bayonet is very good showing a mix of bright, brown, and grey patinas.
