Description:

These rifles are maintain significance in the history of U.S. martial arms as they saw widespread use in the latter years of the Civil War and were the last U.S. regulation muzzle-loader. This one shows standard markings and features including the Type II single leaf rear sight and solid barrel bands. The lock plate and barrel are dated "1864". Removable collection marking on the trigger guard. Includes a "US" marked socket bayonet.

Rating Definition:

Fine, showing mostly bright finish. The lock plate retains 70% original case colors. The lightly sanded and reoiled wood is also fine has some minor handling marks and faint cartouches. Mechanically excellent. The bayonet is fine showing a mix of bright and grey patina with some mild pitting.
