Description:

20,000 of these revolvers were manufactured in 1861 and 1862. Of these, 12,000 were ordered by the U.S. government. It has the standard "SAVAGE R.F.A. CO. MIDDLETOWN, CT/H.S. NORTH PATENTED JUNE 17 1856/JANUARY 13, 1859 MAY 15 1860" marking on top of the frame, illegible cartouche on left grip, and "H" inspector marks on major pieces. The Number "167" stamped under grip with matching serial number "167" handwritten on the grips. Also "194" stamped on frame, possibly an assembly number. Consignor notes possibly attribute the gun to a Captain in a Pennsylvania infantry regiment.

Rating Definition:

Very good plus, retaining 30% plus original blue, the majority of which is on the barrel, with the remainder brown and grey patinas showing some areas of oxidation. The grips are good with a chip out of the lower right forward panel and scattered dings. Mechanically functions but missing loading lever latch.
