Description:

It is dated "1857" on the lock and barrel and has the standard early production markings and features, such as the distinctive brass forend cap and the long range rear sight. Later Model 1855 rifle-muskets used the same style of sights that were also used on the Model 1861s and also had iron caps and patch boxes.

Rating Definition:

Very good to very fine with generally bright iron surfaces, some minor spotting, and generally light scratches and marks. The reoiled stock is fine and has scattered minor scratches and dents, some patches of discoloration, and a few minor chips. Mechanically excellent.
