The breech end of the barrel has sunken "P," eagle head, and "V" proof and view marked and "108," and the tang is dated "1830." The buttplate has "US" and "108." The bayonet lug appears to be marked "209." The lock plate correctly measures 5 3/8 inches long and is marked "SPRING/FIELD/1830" vertically behind the hammer, and the eagle/shield motif over "US" is stamped ahead of the hammer. The inside is marked "RJ" at the center. Several screws and internal lock components are marked "N." The trigger guard has a collection marking on the bow and "EA" stamped on the finial. Includes a socket bayonet and sheath.

Rating Definition:

Good as reconverted to flintlock configuration with mostly brown refinish visible on the barrel and furniture, heavy pitting concentrated at the breech, light original case colors visible on the lock, recently marked numbers on the barrel at the breech and the buttplate, spliced forend tip section, chip above the lock, a few minor cracks, and general scrapes and dings. Mechanically fine. The bayonet and sheath are fine and have moderate wear.
