Description:

The Model 1819 Hall was the first widely issued military breech loading firearm and the first firearm manufactured with totally interchangeable parts. This one is dated "1824" on the breech block. It otherwise has the standard markings and features of the first production type with a removable collection mark on the trigger guard. Includes a socket bayonet.

Rating Definition:

Good, showing a mix of brown lacquer and brown patina thinning to a smooth grey patina with some scattered light pitting. The breech block lever has been shortened. The wood is good with minor dings and scratches throughout, and some scattered hairline and minor cracks with wood filler/repair visible on top forward wrist at the receiver juncture. Mechanically excellent. The bayonet good showing mostly a bright patina with some bright and mild pitting.
