The East India Company used the short Model 1771 (Windus Pattern) muskets to arm their infantry in the late 18th century. The Royal Army later adopted the "India Pattern" as well. It has a bayonet stud/front sight, the East India Company heart and "GRIFFIN & TOW 1779" on top of the barrel, London proof and view marks flanking "JC" at the breech, "1779" over the East India Company logo on the tail of the lock and "crown/W" and "GRIFFIN/& TOW" at the center, a removable collection marking on the trigger guard bow, brass furniture, and a socket bayonet.

Good with mottled dark brown and gray patina on the barrel, remarked/worked lock with mild pitting and artificial aging, repaired mainspring, aged patina on the brass, multiple cracks and repairs in the stock as well as some chips and slivers absent, and general dings and scratches. Mechanically fine.
