Manufactured in 1896 with the two-line Winchester address on the top barrel flat ahead of the rear sight, caliber marking at the breech, model designation on the upper tang, and patent dates and serial number on the lower tang. The included factory letter confirms the current configuration, listing the caliber as "50/100", half octagon barrel, set trigger, Lyman front and tang mounted sights, half magazine, and shotgun buttplate. The letter lists "no rear sight seat", with a rear dovetail having been cut later and a three-leaf Winchester Express sight currently installed. It also lists receipt at the warehouse on 21 April 1896 and shipment from the warehouse on 26 April 1896 in order number 8621. Overall a fine example of a rare Winchester rifle in the desirable .50-100-450 caliber.

Very good, retains 20% thinned original blue finish and a few strong flashes of original case colors with the balance a smooth grey patina and some scattered very light pitting. The wood has minor dings and scratches throughout and most of the varnish. Mechanically excellent.
