Manufactured in the 1870s and 1880s based on designs by Joseph Rider. Interestingly, more of these were engraved than were left plain. The design was clearly influenced by the popular Winchester rifles of the period and their predecessors. The Riders are among the earliest magazine fed pistols. The pistol takes up basically the same amount of pocket space as Remington's famous double derringer but allowed for five shots instead of two. This example has factory geometric, scroll, and punch dot engraving patterns, collector type number on the butt and British proofs on the barrel as well as the standard sights and markings.
