A) 1812 Dated U.S. Harpers Ferry Model 1795 Flintlock Musket

Description:

This musket was manufactured in 1812 as hostilities between the U.S. and U.K. broke out into war and is the Type II variation with the bayonet stud on top, serial number at the breech by the proofs, small eagle and shield motif at the center of the lock, "HARPERS/FERRY/1812" on the tail of the lock, and collection marking on the trigger guard.

Rating Definition:

Fair with gray patina and moderate to heavy pitting, reworked barrel with enlarged vent (possibly reconverted), some tool marks, and generally distinct markings. The refinished stock is very good and has some minor chips and general scrapes and dings. Mechanically fine.

Description:

This early Type I musket is dated "1817" on the lock and has the standard markings and features and comes with a "US/NC" marked bayonet. A collection marking is on the trigger guard.

Rating Definition:

Fair with gray patina, mild pitting, some stains, refinished stock with some minor hairline cracks and small chips, and general mild wear. The bayonet has dark brown patina and mild oxidation and pitting. Mechanically fine.
