The swamped barrel has blade and notch sights. It is equipped with double set triggers and an engraved brass trigger guard with finger groove bow. The stock is marked with a cabinet number "51" below the patch box, dated "17 AH 99" on the cheekpiece edge plate, and has scrimshawed panels and inlays as well as a horn buttplate and incised scrollwork.

Fine with dark gray and brown patina and oxidation and pitting on the barrel and replaced lock, mostly distinct engraving, aged patina on the trigger guard, and general moderate wear. The front lock screw is absent. The stock is fair and has gaps around the lock, some cracks and repairs, loose fitting patch box lid, general scratches and dings, and mild rub wear.
