The head has eight flanges arranged in two groups of three and two more isolated flanges. Each flange has a point flanked by two loops and scallops and another loop near the bottom. The overall length is 29 1/4 inches. It has a one-handed octagonal hardwood handle and a leather lanyard tied through a hole above the handle. Its age and origin are unknown. Many flanged maces date to the 16th century, and maces were used for centuries in Europe and into the early modern era, particularly in Eastern Europe. They remained in use elsewhere even longer.

Fine with dark patina, some repairs to the attachment of the flanges, mild pitting, and general mild wear.
