Description:

Produced without blade maker's markings, both of the knives in this grouping are fitted with bright steel blades, stag grips, and share a brown leather sheath. The larger of the two is 16 1/2 inches overall, with a 12 5/8 single fuller blade, etched with the stag of Saint Hubertus on the left ricasso. Fine oak leaf motifs are sculpted into the silver guard, collar and pommel, with the collar also bearing a set of hall marks, including a dog's head next to a "2" and a "JH" in a shield, and a silver coat of arms topped with four tilting helms is installed on the right side of the grip. The smaller knife is 8 1/4 inches long, with a 3 3/4 inch blade, decorative filework on the spine and repoussed German silver fittings with oak leaf decoration. The collar is inscribed "WAIDMANNSHEIL" (hunter's greeting/salute, a traditional greeting and salutation of German hunters), and the pommel is decorated with a sunburst. The sheath has slots for both knives, with a thin belt hanger loop at the top, a silver tip with sculpted three dimensional oak leaf decoration and a silver collar around the throat for the smaller knife with raised oak leaves and "WAIDMANN'S/DANK" (Hunter's thanks, a traditional response to a call of Waidmannsheil) inscribed on the front.

Rating Definition:

Both knives are in excellent condition, with minor spotting on the blades, and the larger knife showing some play in the hilt fittings. The sheath is very fine, with some cracking, scuffs and staining. The silver components show a mixed aged patina.
