Joseph Lamotte (1716-1807) of St. Etienne likely manufactured these pistols in the early 1800s given they are very similar to the An IX De Gendarmerie pistols of the Napoleonic Era but are slightly longer and larger caliber and naturally without arsenal markings. The locks are marked "JH LAMOTTE/LAINE." There are no other markings. Like the Gendarmerie pistols, they have no sights.

Very good with mottled gray patina and mild pitting. The stock is good and has a crack below the lock, some gaps, and light scratches and dings. Mechanically fine.
