The pistol appears to be of late 18th or early 19th century Russian or Caucasian origin and has a Cyrillic marking on the lock along with a stand of arms at the tail, some floral accents, and a serrated battery face. The lock has no visible screws securing it to the stock. The smoothbore Damascus barrel has fine patterns, silver floral and scroll accents, and a blade front sight on a sighting rib. The barrel tang is silver and engraved. The trigger is brass, and the trigger guard has an iron bow and German silver tang. The false ramrod is also German silver. The stock has a silver tendril cap, silver floral pattern wrist escutcheon, and nearly full coverage silver plate accents with floral and scroll pierced designs and engraving.

Fine overall with dark bluish tones on the lock and barrel, distinct Damascus patterns, aged patina on the silver throughout, some light verdigris, minor cracks/period repairs at the forend tip, and general mild wear. Mechanically fine. Provenance: Dr. Gerald Klaz collection.
