Description:

It is unclear whether or not Nicholas Gilon was licensed by Colt to manufacture Model 1851 Navy pattern revolvers or was one of many counterfeiters in the period. Some of his revolvers follow the Model 1851 Navy pattern very closely, whereas others show clear deviations. It has a dovetailed blade front sight, "COLT/PATENT" on top of the barrel at the breech, "N" on the left side of the barrel above the wedge screw, an interesting naval battle scene on the cylinder which has Liege proofs and "N/GILON" on the face, a checkered grip, and matching serial numbers on the barrel, frame, and trigger guard.

Rating Definition:

Good with traces of original finish, mottled gray and brown patina on the balance, mild pitting, general moderate wear, and mostly distinct markings. The grip is very good and has mild handling and edge wear. Mechanically fine.
