This Model 1816 was manufactured by Simeon North of Middletown, Connecticut, in 1817-1820. 19,374 total were manufactured. These were made to rectify the excessive recoil problem encountered with the Model 1813 pistols. The barrel has "RJ" and "P/US" on the left at the breech. The lock plate is marked "S. NORTH/U[eagle motif]S/MIDLN CON." at center. The stock has an "LT" cartouche on the left flat and two "3" stamps near the pommel. Removable collection mark in white under varnish on the trigger guard.

Rating Definition:

Good, showing mostly bright, a mixed grey-brown patina on the lock, and attractive aged patina on the brass pan with scattered patches of light pitting throughout. The lightly sanded and reoiled wood has minor dings and scratches throughout and some scattered light chipping. Mechanically excellent.
