Description:

One of approximately 2,000 manufactured circa 1842 - 1847. Only marked "P" at the breech. The lock is marked "USN/1845" vertically at the rear and "N.P. AMES/SPRINGFIELD/MASS." at the center. The stock has a pair of cartouches on the left.

Rating Definition:

Very good overall with light pitting on the fairly bright barrel, darker brown patina and light pitting on the lock, aged patina on the brass, dark oiled finish on the stock, general mild scrapes and dings, some chipping at the edges of the butt, minor crack at the rear lock screw on the left stock flat, and mostly distinct markings. Mechanically fine.
