Description:

One of 19,374 Model 1816 pistols manufactured for U.S. contract by Simeon North. This example was later converted to percussion and shows standard markings and features including "US" on the left at the breech and "S.NORTH/U[eagle motif]S/MIDLN CON" marked lock. Removable collection mark in white under varnish on the trigger guard.

Rating Definition:

Fair, showing a mostly grey patina mottled with brown under a protective varnish, with evidence of cleaning and light pitting concentrated mainly at the breech. The lightly sanded and reoiled wood has minor dings throughout, some minor chipping on edges, and a few hairline cracks. Mechanically fine.

Description:

20,400 Model 1819 pattern pistols were manufactured by Simeon North in Middletown, Connecticut, from 1819-1823. This 1821 dated pistol has the standard markings and features including "JD/P/US" and "CW" hand carved on the left flat. Removable collection mark in white under varnish on the trigger guard.

Rating Definition:

Very good showing mostly bright grey patina with some scattered patches of mild pitting. The lightly sanded and reoiled wood has minor dings and scratches scattered throughout and a hairline crack in both sides of the wrist. Mechanically excellent.
