The guard and pommel are finished in gold, with acorn designs worked into the counter-guard and a 5-pointed star in the center, a carved bone grip, and a "screaming eagle" style pommel. The sheath is also gold finished, with oak leaf motifs, a large 5-pointed star between the mid band and the tip, and a ring of 13 stars between the bands. The maker and user are unrecorded, though the general profile and oak leaf designs suggest a blade of German origin, while the eagle and 13 star motifs suggest American destination sometime after the Revolution.
