23,000 of these Model 1865 carbines are estimated to have been manufactured in 1865 and 1866. This carbine is equipped with a Stabler cut-off and has the standard manufacturer markings and features, including two cartouches on the left side of the stock. "I TROOP" followed by an unclear mark ("CALIF"?) is stamped on the top of the comb. Many of these late Spencer carbines were used in the West into the late 19th century.

Rating Definition:

Very good with traces of original finish in the protected areas, mostly smooth gray/brown patina, some minor pitting, and generally minor scratches and marks. The stock is also very good and has some flaking, minor dings and scratches, edge wear, and light but legible cartouches. Mechanically fine.
